Arshid A. Sheikh focuses on intellectual property law with a dual emphasis on global patent procurement and complex patent litigation (including initial assessment of claims and defenses, motions practice, electronic discovery, performing non-infringement and invalidity analyses, and preparing expert reports). Technology-wise, he has experience advising clients in the electrical, electronics, telecommunications, cloud computing, and e-commerce industries. That experience helps Arshid develop pragmatic IP strategies that align with clients’ business objectives.

“My experiences in telecommunications engineering and patent litigation,” Arshid notes, “provide me with the valuable perspective needed to obtain patents more effectively.”  He believes that prosecuting patent applications with the critical eye of a litigator maximizes enforcement potential, and therefore, the potential of a client’s business impact.

Arshid represents clients before the USPTO in patent examination and post-grant proceedings, and also has extensive experience in international patent prosecution, including member countries of the European Patent Office (EPO), China, Japan, South Korea, Canada, Australia, India, and many more. He has a degree in Electronics and Telecommunications Engineering and almost a decade of industry experience before becoming a registered patent attorney.  For example, Arshid worked as a systems engineer in various fields of telecommunications engineering including Wi-Fi, Layer 2/Layer 3 networking, Optical Networking (SONET/SDH), and Digital Telephony (ISDN SS7 telephony).
