Stuart Schanbacher focuses his practice on patent procurement and patent litigation. He represents businesses in the fields of electrical engineering, computer hardware and software, and telecommunications.

Stuart counsels clients in their effort to obtain meaningful patent protection. “It is important to listen to each client and learn their business strategy,” he says “that is the only way to ensure that we pursue protection that is commensurate with the client’s goals.” In addition to patent drafting and patent prosecution, Stuart provides portfolio development strategy to help ensure that a client’s patents provide value. He also performs investigations of patent portfolios, including validity, infringement, and value analyses.

Stuart has been involved with all aspects of complex patent litigations. “Whether a company is involved in patent litigation frequently or rarely, litigation decisions need to be made within the overall framework of the client’s business plan and with the same scrutiny as other major business decisions,” he says, “this includes partnering with a law firm that understands the client’s business plan and can implement the client’s patent litigation strategy.” Stuart’s litigation experience includes discovery, motion practice, technical analysis of accused products, expert witness coordination, and trial practice.
